Terms of Service

Last updated: August 2026 · 78 Skincosmetic Pvt Ltd ("78 Labs", "we")

These terms cover this website and the waitlist. We're not selling anything yet — when the store opens, separate terms will cover buying, shipping and returns.

Using this site.

You're welcome here. Read the journal, join the waitlist, share any of it. In return: don't try to break the site, scrape it at volume, or use it to do something illegal. That's the whole ask.

The waitlist is not an order.

Joining the waitlist costs nothing and commits you to nothing. It isn't a purchase, a pre-order, or a binding contract — you haven't bought anything and we haven't sold you anything.

What it does: it puts you in line for the founding batch. When we open, waitlist members get first claim on our first production run at the founder price of ₹499 with free shipping, one bottle per person.

What we can't promise: that we'll launch on any particular date, or at all. We've said publicly that we'd rather be late than ship something that doesn't meet the standard we set — that means a real possibility of delay, and a smaller possibility that we stop entirely. If we ever stop, we'll tell the list directly and delete the data.

The first run is 2,000 bottles. If demand exceeds that, claims are honoured in the order they're made, and we'll say so plainly rather than pretending otherwise.

About the founding-batch price.

₹499 is the founder price for your first bottle, for people on the waitlist before we open. One per person. Your code will carry an expiry — we'll tell you what it is when we send it.

We publish the regular price at launch, not before. We don't run anchor pricing, strike-throughs, countdown timers, or invented "was" prices, so there's nothing to compare against yet by design.

This is a cosmetic, not a drug.

Our sunscreen is a cosmetic product under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and the Cosmetics Rules, 2020. It is not a drug or a medicine.

It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition. Sunscreen is one part of sun protection — it does not make you immune to sun damage, and it is not a claim about skin cancer. Shade, clothing and sensible timing still matter. Nothing on this site is medical advice; if you have a skin condition or a reaction, see a doctor, not a website.

What we say about SPF.

Until our lab certificate lands, everything we say about SPF and PA describes what the product is formulated for — not a proven, certified result. We're testing it now and we publish results as they come in, including results we don't like.

We will only market numerical SPF and PA figures once a certificate supports them. If the numbers come back lower than we hoped, we'll say so on the journal. That's the entire point of building this in public.

The journal.

Journal posts are dated build notes — what we knew and decided on that day. We don't quietly rewrite old posts to make past decisions look better. That means an older post may describe something we've since changed our minds about; the date on it tells you when it was true.

Our stuff.

The 78 Labs name, logo, site design, photography and written content belong to us. Quote us, link us, screenshot us, write about us — all fine. Passing our work off as your own, or using our branding on your own product, is not.

Where we're not liable.

We provide this site as it is. We can't guarantee it's always available or entirely free of errors, and to the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from using it.

Nothing here limits any right you have under Indian consumer law, or our liability for anything that can't lawfully be limited. When we're selling a physical product, product liability sits with us — we're not trying to sign that away.

Changes.

We may update these terms as the business changes — most obviously when the store opens. The date at the top tells you the current version. Material changes that affect waitlist members get an email, not a silent edit.

Law and disputes.

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Hyderabad, Telangana have jurisdiction.
